Justice Clarence Thomas Wife: “Liberty Central, Inc” Teaparty
By the Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas who brought you the following prescience from last April, 2009:
“How can you not reminisce about a childhood where you began each day with the Pledge of Allegiance as little kids lined up in the schoolyard and then marched in two by two with a flag and a crucifix in each classroom?†– Clarence Thomas [NY Times]
Now comes the story of his wife, Virginia Thomas, and her move into the realm of patriotic liberty preservers:
“I am an ordinary citizen from Omaha, Neb., who just may have the chance to preserve liberty along with you and other people like you,” she said at a recent panel discussion with tea party leaders in Washington. She is the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, and she has launched a tea-party-linked group that could test the traditional notions of political impartiality for the court. [..]
“I adore all the new citizen patriots who are rising up across this country,” Thomas, who goes by Ginni, said on the panel at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “I have felt called to the front lines with you, with my fellow citizens, to preserve what made America great.” [LA Times]
Now, lets visit the new Front Lines of preservation, where we can just take two philters of whatever that was, and add one cup of yesterdays teaparty anti-health care reform protests at the Capitol:
Spitting and Slurs Directed at Lawmakers
An aide to congressman Lewis, a leader of the civil rights movement in the 1960s, said that as he walked to the Capitol, Mr. Lewis was called racial slurs. A spokesman for Mr. Cleaver said that a protester spat on the congressman as he was walking to the Capitol for a vote.
Democratic aides said some demonstrators made anti-gay remarks to Representative Barney Frank, Democrat of Massachusetts, who is gay.
The No. 3 Democrat in the House, Representative James E. Clyburn of South Carolina, said, “I heard people saying things today that I have not heard since March 15, 1960, when I was marching to try to get off the back of the bus. “[Prescriptions Blog]
And add in a little background, for that exotic pastoral flavoring from the days, (why, it seems like only yer-ster-day!), when Freedoms Really Did Exist:
In January, Virginia Thomas created Liberty Central Inc., a nonprofit lobbying group whose website will organize activism around a set of conservative “core principles,” she said.
The group plans to issue score cards for Congress members and be involved in the November election, although Thomas would not specify how. She said it would accept donations from various sources — including corporations — as allowed under campaign finance rules recently loosened by the Supreme Court. [LA Times]
… And what happens? a whole bunch of DEVO, with maybe a little Stepford thrown in:
Better get Murray Hill Inc in on it.
